In the year 2006, Dell was ranked as the25th-largest company by the Fortune magazine in the Fortune 500 list, and ranked as 8th on its annual Top 20 list amongst United States most admired companies. Dell was also named as one of 38 high-performance companies in the S&P 500, according to a 2006 publication, which systematically out-performed the market for the last 15 years. According to the history of Dell, the company was founded by Michael Dell, a student at the University of Texas at Austin in the year 1984. Then the name of the company was PC’s Limited only with $1000.
The startup targeted to sell IBM-compatible computers that were built from stock components. Michael Dell began trading with the belief in his mind that by selling PC systems directly to consumers, PC’s Limited will be able to learn more about customer’s needs and can provide the best effective computing solutions to meet those functional needs.
