Compaq or Compaq Computer Corporation was an American personal computer company founded in the year 1982. The product at present stands for the brand name of Hewlett-Packard. The company was formed by Rod Canion, Jim Harris and Bill Murto; all were former Texas Instruments senior managers. The name Compaq was derived from "Compatibility and Quality". During the time of its formation, some of the main products produced by the company include IBM PC compatible. The company was also once recognized as the largest supplier of computers in world.
